Ohio, also known as the Buckeye State, currently has a population of about 11.7 million, making it the 7th most populous state in the US. It has an average temperature of 50.7°F (10.4°C). January is generally the coldest month of the year in Ohio. July, on the other hand, marks the peak of the summer season.
Ohio is vulnerable to thunderstorms, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, cyclones, and snowstorms. In fact, it once placed 9th in the top states with the number of major hail events in 2011. Interestingly, the biggest hail recorded in this state was a 5-inch hail spotted in Chillicothe, Ross County on May 1, 2012 at 18:00 CST. In summary, a total of 351 hailstorms were recorded from 2009 to 2018 and the worst yet was the storm of 2011 in Hancock, costing $88 million in property damage.
